Hi, my name is Juanita and I used to be terrified about coming to the dentist. I went to a dentist that was supposed to do a root canal and when I got there and we finished the procedure, she had actually pulled my tooth, which I didn’t know till I got home. And then when I called to ask her, why she pulled my tooth without me even signing in any, giving her consent to do that. I got a real bad attitude from her and she said that while I was completely high off the medication I insisted that she pulled my tooth. I was really upset because my husband can tell you. We’ve seen my gardener and I caught him over and didn’t remember any of the conversations. So I developed anxiety about going to a dentist. I was completely frightened and didn’t trust any dentist, but I really wanted my teeth taken care of because I just was over it. I wanted to smile. I wanted to be my old self again.
So I came to Dr. Lee, and I’m grateful that I did. The first interaction was really positive. He told me right away he was going to take care of me and I was like shaking. And he kind of put his hand on my shoulder, and he was like, “Oh you’ll be fine. I promise I’m gonna take care of you.” And he assured me that he would not do anything that we didn’t agree on. And I signed for it.
I wanted to smile. I wanted to be my old self again.
Dr. Lee:
One of the things that we take pride in is that we take away the stigma of the fear of going to the dentist. We sit down. We listen to her to make her comfortable. And so she proceeded to go with their treatment, which is she was missing multiple missing teeth. And we were able to replace all those with dental implants.
Juanita:
Each time that I came in from the first experience with Dr. Lee, I was more comfortable, then I didn’t have the anxiety? I wasn’t shaking, no more. It was just like I was ready. And every time I had any work done, I get the message that said, this is Dr. Lee. I just want to make sure everything is going well with you. If not, call my office right away. [inaudible] our office number, with all the information. I always thought about that, that I really like that because that showed that he really cared.
Dr. Lee:
She told me in the last appointment, she said, “Doc, I can’t believe it. I’m sitting here. I’m not feeling any ounce of anxiety. And it’s made a huge difference in my life.” And when I heard that, it really warmed my heart.
